Matthew 21:1-11

On Palm Sunday, the crowds welcomed Jesus as King with shouts of “Hosanna,” expecting power, victory, and immediate change. Everything seemed perfectly aligned for a triumphant reign. Yet within days, those same hopes turned to disappointment as Jesus did not meet their expectations.

The irony and mystery of Palm Sunday come into focus as what looked like missed potential, was actually the fulfillment of God’s perfect plan. Jesus did not come to overthrow earthly powers but to conquer sin through the cross.

This calls believers to let go of what they want Christ to do for them and to trust in what he has already done. The way of Jesus is the way of the cross, dying to self and living in the freedom of forgiveness and new life. Thank God that what Christ could have done, he did not do, so that what he did accomplish would save us forever.
